Erase Ubuntu 17.04 and install Ubuntu 17.10 alongside Windows; Erase disk and install Ubuntu; Something else; Rest all options were grayed out. While searching on the internet, I came across cdromupgrade but that doesn't exist in the ISO. Is there any way I can update from the ISO/Live CD? Step 2: Burn the ISO image to a Disc. Now that Ubuntu ISO image is downloaded, you must burn the image to a disc, then boot the computer you want to install Ubuntu on from it. If you’re using a Windows machine to download the Image, right-click the Ubuntu ISO image and select Burn disc image. Step 3: Install Ubuntu.

Install Ubuntu 17.10

Hello everyone, how are you all doing today? I hope you are all having a great week so far, my week has been crazy to say the least but at least I was able to relax and enjoy the start of the 2017-2018 NBA season! As most of you know I am a huge sports fan, especially basketball lol anyway, please read on…

Today we will list the best Ubuntu 17.10 download links which will feature both FTP links, direct download links and of course Bittorrent links for Ubuntu 17.10. Lets not waste too much time, have a quick look at 17.10’s feature list, screenshots and then you can go ahead and download and install it. An upgrade link has also been added if you are upgrading from Ubuntu 17.04 etc. Artful Aardvark(17.10) has so far received great reviews mainly because of the move from UNITY to GNOME so it shows that Canonical is still going on the right path.

Ubuntu 17.10 Features

  • New Gnome desktop

The biggest change is the desktop environment. Ubuntu 17.10 is retiring Unity in favour of GNOME, version 3.26.1.

  • New Wayland

The default display server is Wayland, but can also run x.org as a session or on systems that cannot support Wayland.

  • New on screen keyboard

The new Caribou on screen keyboard is paving the way to future touchscreen laptop experience.

  • Same user experience

The familiar Ubuntu experience – from desktop layout to key shortcuts – remains unchanged thanks to themes and extensions.

  • Familiar dock

The dock that has been a staple feature of Ubuntu since 11.04 is still here but can now be moved around left, right or bottom.

  • More customisation

The new settings application lets you easily explore all the possibilities and features of the new desktop.

  • Kernel

Ubuntu 17.10 features the Linux kernel 4.13.

  • Seamless

Upgrading to Ubuntu 17.10 should be seamless from Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and 17.04.

  • Swap

The swap is now a file, not a partition that will scale to what your system needs, making it easier to install Ubuntu on any machine.

Ubuntu is distributed on three types of images described below.

Desktop image

Ubuntu 17.10 Iso

The desktop image allows you to try Ubuntu without changing your computer at all, and at your option to install it permanently later. This type of image is what most people will want to use. You will need at least 1024MiB of RAM to install from this image.

64-bit PC (AMD64) desktop image

Choose this if you have a computer based on the AMD64 or EM64T architecture (e.g., Athlon64, Opteron, EM64T Xeon, Core 2). If you have a non-64-bit processor made by AMD, or if you need full support for 32-bit code, use the i386 images instead. Choose this if you are at all unsure.

Server install image

The server install image allows you to install Ubuntu permanently on a computer for use as a server. It will not install a graphical user interface.

64-bit PC (AMD64) server install image

Choose this if you have a computer based on the AMD64 or EM64T architecture (e.g., Athlon64, Opteron, EM64T Xeon, Core 2). If you have a non-64-bit processor made by AMD, or if you need full support for 32-bit code, use the i386 images instead. Choose this if you are at all unsure.
