Microsoft Excel 5 0 Object Library

@John,

I'm looking for the Excel Object Library file to import it into LabVIEW. I have MS Office 2013 installed and can find MSACC.olb, MSOUTL.olb, MSPPT.olb, and MSWORD.olb but can't figure out which file (.olb or.dll) to import in order to manipulate Excel files in LabVIEW. I am developing a Excel automation app that read and write to Excel spreadsheet. I have Office 2007 installed on my machine. I therefore can reference the Excel 12.0 Object Library and the Excel 5.0 Object Library. I don't want to use Excel 5.0 because it's really quite old and poorly documented. Therefore I'm referencing Excel 12.0.

Microsoft Excel 11.0 Object Library is provided by an installation of Excel 2003.

If you don’t have Excel 2003 installed on the computer where you are going to run, the library is not available. However, if you have a different version of Excel installed, there will be an Excel nn.0 Object Library available. You might want to update your reference list to a more recent version.

Michael,

I have the Microsoft Excel Viewer installed.

I think I need a copy of Xl5en32.olb or a similar dll file for the VB6
Reference.

I don’t have Excel 2003 installed on my compute. Is there a free
version available?

Thanks,
John

@John,

There are no free versions of Excel. Again, I strongly recommend that you change your Reference to a more up-to-date version of Excel; you will, of course, need to have that version of Excel installed on any computer where you want to run your VB6 program.

If you absolutely must have Excel 2003, look at You Can Still Buy Microsoft Office 2003 Online & We Show You Where at http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/can-still-buy-microsoft-office-2003-online-show/

Michael,

I may have miss stated the problem I am having.

Microsoft excel 5 0 object library free

According to
http://www.dreamincode.net/forums/topic/174451-using-excel-with-visual-basic-6/
I need a reference to “Microsoft Excel x Object Library” where x is the
version.

When I go to References I don’t see any reference to a Microsoft Excel
Object Library.

How do I get the needed reference?

Thanks,
John

@John,

The only way is to install some version of Microsoft Excel.

When you go to the references, there is a button that says ‘Browse…’.
You can select any dll on your computer. Only not each one likes to be
selected. You would get the message: “Can’t add a reference to the
specified file.”

Library

If the chosen dll is not registered, you have to do that yourself
(Google for it).

I am not sure I solved my problem due to another problem. I was able to

get a Reference to Excel by downloading and installing Microsoft’s Excel

Viewer. I am starting a new Subject – Windows 10 Install and other
problems.

Thanks,
