I was intending to export the project before the trial ended so i could use it in other software, but due to complex frustrating reasons that Adobe can't explain and there is no value going into here, I am unable to access the trial version any more, so I can't go into Premiere even just to export my projects.

I sympathize with your situation.
However, this is an Adobe issue rather than an iMovie issue.
You need to work this out with the Adobe people. Perhaps they will let you purchase the
app so you can unlock the program and retrieve your project, and then refund your money and
delete the app.
Failing some workout with Adobe, your options are as follows:

1. Redo the project in iMovie.
2. Buy Adobe
3. Hack the free trial app (dubiously legal).
4. Do an internet and You Tube search to see if you can find some solution.
