The maximum fuse size that can be used depends upon the type of cable used and is determined using the appropriate K factor. The following table gives the maximum sizes of fuses that are recommended for two popular cables with copper conductors, 70°C PVC (K = 115). Adobe Fuse characters can be processed through the Mixamo animation service. Fuse models are exported to Mixamo directly through the ’Send to Mixamo’ button on the UI, and after the model is uploaded, it is automatically rigged and can then have one of the hundreds of free-to-use motion samples applied to it. For example, using Fuse CC, modelling a character, uploading animating, downloading and importing into Unity 2017, the FBX size (even with Unity mesh compression on High) is 10.3mb.

What is a FUSE file?

A FUSE file is a 3D model created by Adobe Fuse, a program used to create 3D human characters. It is the native format used to save 3D human models in Fuse and includes information about the face, body, clothing, and textures of the model. FUSE files can be saved, closed, and reopened for further editing.

The FUSE file includes references to model assets instead of actually storing the assets, which would increase the size of the FUSE file. The references to the locations of the asset files, which are read by Fuse to load the assets when opening the FUSE file. Therefore, you should not move the FUSE file or its assets. If you do, the model may not appear correctly in Fuse.

If you need to move the FUSE file, export it as an .OBJ file in Fuse. To export the file, select File → Export → Export Model as OBJ.

Last year we refreshed Mixamo.com, our 3D character rigging and animation web service. You’ll be able to find dozens of new ready-to-use 3D characters and a refreshed UI.

As part of Fuse being removed from Creative Cloud, the direct upload from Fuse to Mixamo will no longer function as of September 28th, 2020. You can continue to use Mixamo for Fuse characters via a manual export and upload process:

  • Export your character to .obj format
  • Combine the .obj, .mtl, and textures into a .zip file
  • Upload the .zip file directly on Mixamo.com

Uploading manually will allow you to continue to use the Mixamo auto-rigging services for your characters, but will not provide facial blendshape support or any unique Fuse rigging features
